How much do some of you spend on fireworks? I've always seen it as a complete waste of money but of course since I have kids now my way of thinking has changed. I'm going to take my boy this afternoon to buy a few and just wondered if some people go all out or just stick with bottle rockets and Roman candles.

We always go around to fireworks stands the 5th-6th of July. At that point they're all just wanting to move their stuff, and will usually accept whatever offer you throw out. You can get some serious firepower spending $100-$200.

When I was a kid this was my absolute favorite time of the year. I would save money from Christmas for fireworks. As much as I love them it feels like I'm just burning money needed for something else now.

when the kids were a little younger we would drop $200-$400...but that was to put on a nice cheap show for the grandparents etc..

Depends on where we are. If we're way out in the boonies somewhere then we'll spend a couple hundred on fireworks and put on our own show.

If we're near a city with a good fireworks display, we'll get a good seat for everyone and hand out ear plugs just before it starts.

Many years ago(25+)I remember coming through Missouri and pop's stopping at one of those giant warehouses...let's just say the car was loaded down with goodies...those were the real M-80's as well..we used to buy those 3-4ft long rockets and I would make a bazooka tube out of pvc and we would take turns playing around..the sound it made on take off was sweet...

I've never spent more then 20-40 bucks, but that is because we always go to a huge party where every family brings 20-40 bucks worth and it ends up being enough for a huge show. Of course some people bring more.

We spend zero. I hate spending money on them when there are multiple places to watch huge displays for free.

The other thing I hate are the IDOTS who continue shooting them at midnight, or will fire up late next Wednesday or Thursday night because Goober's Fireworks and FatAss Panty Emporium put their stock on sale.

I enjoy watching the big free ones, though, knowing someone else is burning their money.

I have always been a fireworks fanatic but am saving my money this year. I love big fireworks and to be honest, black cat and TNT just dont cut it for me, and that buy one get one free is bullcrap. There is a place in Chelsea called fireworks blast and they sell the brand "Big Fireworks" and they are about as close as you can get to professional grade fireworks. I strongly recommend anybody who is buying fireworks to go there, because you wont be disappointed. I always buy the Pro Shells, which are reloadable canister shells and they are huge. They also have some amazing 500 gram cakes that are good.

I hate fireworks. I used to live right behind the Summitt and those bastards used every occassion to blast out fireworks. My damn dogs would be shaking for a week. Downtown Bham was fine, but not right over a residential area.....

We usually spend $125 - $ 150 on New Years and watch them at the beach on the 4th. Kids are getting older and I expect that number to drop over time.

Clem I had a neighbor I hunted with some, Hoyt and Dustin met him once. He spent a whole pay check the first night the places opened up a week before and he shot the damn things every night before and after until he ran out. You'd have loved him. My x-wife got so fed up she grabbed my pistol one night and went across the street and yelled at him to stop. I laughed my arse off.
