Has anyone seen them in Pensacola? I can't find anything about tickets. We will be down there that weekend and I have wanted to see them for a long time. Any advice on where to watch from?

I have watched them out on Pensacola Beach. Great show. Just be prepared for major traffic jams when it's over.

I go every year by boat, traffic is a nightmare. There are no tickets required, but if you are driving go EARLY. Anywhere on Pensacola beach from Quietwater all the way down to Ft Mcrea is a good show.

If you drive, expect 250k others to be doing the same

We are staying in a beech house in Orange Beach. There are six of us so you would need a yacht.

Just that I have never been and not sure what to expect. I'm assuming you can set up on the beech or somewhere close. We were going to go to the Tuscaloosa show last year but did not make it. They were charging admission there but I guess this is a free show. I would think a good set of ear plugs is a good idea.

I have been to probably 20 pensacola beach air shows, I have watched them from the ramp of the pier, to the east and west of the pier on the beach, from quiet water, and from the Sabine on a boat. I am like a little kid when I watch them, completely awestruck. They are absolutely incredible . Take notes from the other posts, if you are driving, I would suggest being in gulf breeze proper no later than 7:30 am with all of your stops and preparations taken care of. Be prepared to make a solid 10-12 hour day out of it, traffic leaving the beach after the show is a nightmare, it's sometimes better to wait it out and just enjoy the beach for a few more hours. Be sure to pack every contingency for bad weather, food, water, etc. it can be a long walk to get to any of those items from where you set up shop. Not to mention, driving anywhere once you are there is out of the question. Also be prepared to have close neighbors, I think last year there was a record number of cars that went through the toll booth Saturday morning, somewhere around 120,000. Needless to say, we go every year we can and only miss it for family deaths. It's one of the greatest air shows out there, if you ask me.

If you are going to be in Orange Beach, drive over and watch the Friday show. Won't be near as many people same show. All Pensacola shows are free, and anywhere on Pensacola Beach is a good spot

Do this, but plan on driving over early in the morning - even on Friday - and get you a spot on the gulf side of the beach. Chairs, umbrella and definitely numerous cold beverages of choice required, maybe a grill and some grub. B/c they fly at 2 and I'm talking you probably need to be out there by at least 8am Friday I would say if you don't want to fight the crowd. The bridge is a major bottleneck that can get congested quick.

We go every year and the crowd last year was unbelievable. The big parking lot at casino beach was full by 6:30 am. Do NOT park on the sidewalk or anywhere in a parking lot that is not a "marked" spot!! You will get towed with the quickness. The traffic was backed up all the way back through Gulf Breeze to the civic center in Pensacola last year at 9 am. It's a great show but like others have said, get there EARLY and plan on being there 10-12 hrs unless you like sitting in traffic for hours.

I've been going for the past 6 or so years. Unfortunately, I won't make it this year bc I don't want to get my 8mo son on the hot ass beach for that long. Having said that ,its one of the best times on the coast. Don't you dare bring a pair of ear plugs. The sound is the best part to me. Get there earlier than you think is early, I'd say on the beach at 5-530. Hope you enjoy it!

I like to go home for lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday when they are in town. The formation of four flies right over my neighborhood with the two solos just about to join the formation. It never gets old. It is just not the same the same without NUMBER 6.

A couple of years ago, my daughter wanted to catch the Friday show (is what I call it). We left so we would get to the beach about the time the Blues were flying, since I had work. Nobody could believe it, but we drove straight to the beach...no traffic. Found a house that was gone from one of the hurricanes and parked. Walked to the beach and waited 2 minutes on Fat Albert. Unbelievable is what it was.

If you are going on Saturday, at 8am both bridges will be parking lots. I have to agree with SURE, get there before daylight and leave the ear plugs at home.

I wish I would have known and I would have looked you up. I have a friend that works for the foundation and was down there visiting a couple weeks ago. We were fortunate enough to get to see them go up for the first time since the accident. Since it was unannounced, there wasn't a crowd. I got to watch them around lunch from the top of the lighthouse. It was cool to say the least.

Okay, no earplugs. If the Friday practice is as good I may do that instead of Saturday. May check on if anyone rents spots on a boat/barge. Thanks for all the advice. This is one of the few things on my bucket list.

I'm not going to lie, I get a little bit of a freedom boner watching these. This is why the beach show is one of the best, if not the best.

Anything that rents for that weekend might be available next year. You can just about forget finding anything that rents and is not rented...(99.99% on that) If you find something for this year, it is probably a scam...especially a house on the beach.

Agreed. Bookings for the beach air show are a year in advance kind of affair.

watched them practice last week. the practices werent back to normal yet so you had to watch from the parking lot and they didnt do the autograph session. they were still only flying 5. still one of the most awesome things I have ever seen. the museum folks were giving the impression that they wouldnt be doing the full practice/autograph routine for a while yet and probably wouldnt fly shows any more this year. glad to hear they will be back sooner.

Go with the flow and you will end up down the drain!

We left the camp last Wednesday and drove down to Pensacola and I guess they were practicing. We found a place to park and watched for a while. Not sure who was more amazed,me or the kids. I would love to see the actual show. The chick fela down there had a memorial up for the #6 pilot. Thought that was pretty awesome.

Yeah, next time you're in the area, let me know.

Pretty much what all has been said in the responses. Blues breed traffic. Be it on the roads or in the water it gets crazy. Like Driveby said, if you come to a practice on base during the week, not near as bad.

When they get back to normal operations, you can meet the pilots at the Naval Aviation Museum on Thursdays after practice.

We went last year. Drove down for the day and watched from the airfield. Had a great time and the crowds weren't too bad. Most folks gathered around the fences, we just got behind them and setup our lawn chairs and watched the show. The only thing we didn't get a good view of because we weren't close to the fences was the race between the jet truck and a Lamborghini.

Sounds like that's the show they do over the airbase, I believe in November. This is a different show that's over Pensacola Beach.

Yep. And they'll do a practice beach show on that Friday too.

The best time is the Thursday practice or the Friday run. A lot of people on Saturday but the view is wonderful

We were anchored up in the bay last year right out side of Little Sabine and noticed a big RV on the bridge before the show. He ended up watching the entire show from that same spot on the bridge.

I see them every week, they fly over our office practicing weekly.

2 good spots to see "some" of the show without traffic are the Oar House Restaurant and Mac's Marina. You will not see the entire show, but see a good bit of it. Mac's Marina actually is straight across the bayou from the runway, so you can watch them take off and land

We've been by boat a few times, there's a lagoon off Pensacola Bay just west of the 98 bridge. About waist high water, perfect for watching and staying cool. Just don't have too may brews and let the tide go out on you...

Also have been to a practice at the NAS and the museum, it's really interesting and lots to see.

Quailman, do you know what type radio and frequency is needed to listen to them? It's really neat to listen to the lead pilot. "a little puuuuuuuuuuuuuullllllllllllll BREAK"

Little Sabine bay will be full of people and boats by 9:00 on Sat. morning. Go early and plan to stay late. Across the road at quiet water beach are restaurants and public rest rooms.

I would prefer watching from a boat but is sounds like that would be impossible to find one this late. We will try to find the best spot on the beach and plan on spending the day. Good to know about quiet water and restaurants. I am not familiar at all with Pensacola.

The practice sessions are an AUsome experience. Take plenty of water and gatoraid. They fly the coastline and usually perform some formations around where we stay in Gulf Shores. This year we didn't see the Blues but Fat Albert did a fly by and stayed in the area for awhile. That was cool because we haven't seen that before.
