A good friend of mine told me the legislature actually changed the law to 1/2 hr before and after sunrise and set. Anyone know anything about this? I visited the Outdoor Alabama website and can't find any information.

Please clarify. What still has to happen? I saw where the legislature passed it. By legislature do they mean just the house or house and Senate?

no it means you can't pull the trigger until 30 minutes before legal sunrise and 30 minutes after legal sunset. You can sit in the woods all night if you want to. Duck hunters been going by this for years and those crazies get on the water 2 hours early to claim their spot on some busy lakes and marshes. Some make it a week early for the opening day on Guntersville.

Good god, y'all quit overthinking it.
This means you cannot pull the trigger or release an arrow until 30 minutes prior to official sunrise or until 30 minutes after official sunset as determined by the US Naval times. These times are the same used for duck hunting.
Get in the stand, load your gun or nock and arrow, have a watch set for the right time or use your smartphone, and then be ready. Shoot before or after at your discretion should you feel compelled to do so.
It ain't rocket science.

I'll just say I've killed some pretty fair bucks at first and last light only because I can shoot 400 yards. Ain't no killing these boys any other way. Well maby but I'm too damn old to walk that far and get that early. I have also killed my share in mid-day. Just saying.........

I won't divulge the county, but a few years ago, I had a conversation about shooting hours with the local GW. He told me that with the optics available nowadays that he wouldn't write a ticket unless it was very early or very late. In his opinion, sunrise and sunset were too restrictive. As always, your mileage may vary. TomJ A few years ago and now are not the same. A few years ago, the law wasn't clear. Now it has a set time.
