start a project that you think will take 30 minutes and you end up with something that is going to take all weekend?

What started with me changing the headlights on my truck (thanks dnolen, tons of help, I'm an idiot)....turned into me cleaning my truck....turned into me trying to fix my cracked dashboard bevel.....

I should have just gone fishing.

Know the feeling. Went to Lowes one Friday evening to get a new door knob to change out. Somehow we wandered over to the tile isle. We finished installing the backsplash about 4:00 Sunday afternoon after two days work. crazy

I went and bought a pontoon boat, that needed "Minor" things fixed. Before I knew it, I had that thing torn apart plumb down to the frame grin

Once upon a time I took a 30 day job at a nuclear plant that I managed to string our for 5 years laugh

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Every project I take on. Decided to re-do a bathroon (complete tear-out) and it ended up being about 6 months. In my defense there was a lot of pretty time consuming tile work, especially for a novice, and I did everything myself.May have taken longer but the wife put her foot down and got me motivated.

Well, all my dreams of my project just shattered....literally.

I epoxied the cracked and broken dash back together. What I had figured is the UV sunlight had broken down the plastic. I got it glued back, sanded it all down nice and smooth like, and even painted it real evenly. It looked really good. Like I was actually excited. It was cured and ready to go...so get all the wires in place, carefully line up the clips, and gently push the piece in and...

KAPLEWY!!! plastic bits going everything. The entire piece just shattered into nothing...

Guess Ill just fork out some money and buy a new part. Dumb.

My son and I always allow 4x the amount of time the instructions say. If it's a 30 minute install, we figure 2 hours. Pretty accurate.

There are such things as covers or skins that go over damaged a dash.........

Yeah, when I say cracked, there were pieces falling off if I hit big bumps. It wasn't the actual dash, its the center console thing.

The top of the middle white piece in this picture. Its all once piece, but the top was falling apart and chunks were falling into the speaker.
(this isn't mine, just found a picture for reference)

Its just cosmetic. But it was bugging me. Now it will even more!
