I bought a 2006 Fleetwood pioneer 27ft on a STEAL of a deal. I knew it had a leak in the slide out before I bought it. I am gutting most of the camper anyway to update it for the boss lady (aka wife).

So back to the leak. It's a bit bigger than I previously thought but for the price I couldn't say no. Does anybody here have any experience in replacing the slide out floor or know a reasonable place for me to haul it to? I am also going to have to replace or repair the rubber roof. I don't know for sure yet because I haven't really looked for that leak yet. I don't mind to do the work but the knowledge of this is a little out of my league.

I have basically been gutting the camper right now down to bare bones to reinsullate.

I would rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6.

I replaced the floor in our bedroom slide out a few years ago.Wasn't a big deal at all to me but I do construction.Just gotta be careful working on them slide outs cause them sobs will fall out.I was able to only slide mine about halfway out and tear everything out.Ours had a tiny leak around a trim piece. It wet the edge of the floor just enough for the bolts where the actuator was bolted that worked the slide out to pull through the wafer board floor.I replaced it with 5/8 plywood and it's good to go now.I can't help you with the roof but best thing to do is get some dicor or either some butyl sealant and seal everything real good and put 3 good coats of the white Kool seal around all the boots and the edges.

I had a slide out rebuilt and had to take it to Oxford, AL. Camper World's Service Dept did a good job of rebuilding and repairing the damage.

I figured Camper World would not be a popular choice for most but mine repair was a major project. From what I remember they were a little more expensive than the other estimates I got but I had more confidence in how they were going to repair it.

I was think of doing it myself just seem like a big project. I have watched several videos as well as read a lot on the process of DIY. I would rather do it myself. Guess I can call a few more places and see what they gotta say. So far I have been told avg $2000.

Like I said I would rather do it myself with the help of somebody more experienced than me that way I can learn more. I thought about going up to a "stealership" and asking one of the guys in the shop if he was willing to take on a weekend project. That way I can learn plus he could make some money too.

Campers are money pits.
I hate them.

If you can find someone that is having a pool liner replaced they make great roof replacements for campers.I used one on the camper I sold a friend about 8 years ago and he hasn't had any troubles so far.I rolled it with elastomeric and then put the pool liner on top of it and rolled it down. Then cut to fit the top with a little overhang to glue down and voila waterproof roof that flexes.

That's a killer idea for the top. The next would be the floor in the slide out. Since the roof leaked it warped the floor and rotted some of floor and the walls. I am gutting the walls and replacing the paneling. The floor is gonna be my big problem. It it a sheet of pressboard basically over pressure treated.

Along the same lines as the pool liner, I would consider swinging by a few commercial job sites and find one with a tpo roof. Likely a roofer will have some scrap big enough for you to use. Then all you would need is a razor knife, heat gun, some glue, and patience. Might even snag an old bucket of glue, if they were wrapping up the job.

If you want to travel a couple hrs, there is a guy that fixes campers in dekalb co. He is hooked up with some type of insurance deal with fixing up campers and does a heck of a good job and will work for the public also. Half way between Albertville and Geraldean on hwy 75 on the right. You can't miss it.

I don't mind to travel a bit for good work for a decent price. If it's not too much trouble do you think you may be able to get his name and number for me?

There's a camper repair place over in Level Plains, near Daleville, that used to do a great job on my Dad's camper, and were reasonably priced. Don't remember the name of it, but there's like 8 people in Level Plains...can't be that hard to find!

I'll try to look it up. I don't know if he even has a sign with a number. Just know we took a bumper pull up there one day expecting on spending a few grand to get it fixed and he only charged 500 and we happy as could be. Had it back in about a week. I see if my old man has his number, but I don't go to Geraldean but everynow and then, but i'll definitely stop to get his number when I do next time.
