We had a lineman get burned yesterday when a customer didn't flip his main off and hooked his generator into his panel box. We were working a conversion in the harvest Monrovia area. The lineman had burns to his right hand and had a blow out injury to his left elbow area. 7200 volts ran through his body he is in UAB receiving care for the burns. Please be careful.

Deadwood Footbsll Bat PSYOPS D Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 9,565 Cape San Blas, Florida	I had a Power Company fellow tell me to place a separate ground rod or ground bed to your generator so that you are not attached to the neutral at the meter, as well. That bare #6 is a conductor also and can cause the same effect if the neutral goes open (is disconnected). Just because it doesn't have insulating cladding on it doesn't mean it is safe to touch.

But can some one explain how a home generator supplied 7,200 volts into the transmission lines? I am confused how the voltage is greater than 240 or so volts.
