I went this afternoon to check on the greenfields on the property that I hunt. 3 fields total. One field was totally redone last October. Currently, it has healthy, weed free, Ladino Clover that has been out grown by annual Rye grass. Clover is 5" tall and Rye is at 18". I've been told that the clover benefits from the shade of other plants during the hot season, soooo,,,,,, what should I do at this point? Cut the Rye grass to the top of the Clover, cut it lower, or,,,,,leave it alone?????

If the clover has flowered out I'd cut the tops out. You need to fertilize with no or very low nitrogen also

If you have perennial ryegrass, I'd spray and kill it now before it overtakes everything else in your plot.

I'm sure the ryegrass has already seeded out, so spraying it will kill the grass, but all those seeds are going to come back in the fall. I would wait until after a rain, and then bush hog the grass down. Ryegrass usually goes dormant by June and awakens again late september. Spray it then. Don't mow stressed clover, wait until after a rain. If the ryegrass doesn't die out when it gets hot, then you have perrenial ryegrass and that will take a couple sprayings to get rid off.
