Do any of you guys have problems with this? What did you do that helped? Im trying to wear house shoes instead of going barefoot in the house. Im also wearing a little sleeve that fits around the middle of my foot with small gel pad on the bottom thats positioned right in the arch of my foot. It seems to help but its kind of uncomfortable and causing my feet to hurt where the pad is sitting instead of from the tendon pain.
All I know isthis chit sucks. Its been bothering me for the last couple weeks and is only getting worse. Ive been taking Ibuprofen and trying to stay off of my feet as much for the last couple days in hopes that it gets better. Got to figure out how to manage this issue or Im afraid itll be a long term problem.

Rolling a frozen golf ball with my foot several times a day helped mine more than anything else I tried.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the house shoes are helping and may be hurting. I believe you want something with arch support. I have it off and on (but it's been a while) and the thing that seems to flare it up for me is when I wear shoes without arch support for several days in a row and stand on my feet a lot on those days. I have flat feet and shoes with arch support are crucial to keep me from having the plantar fasciitis flare up.

Go to New Balance store. Tell them what's going on.
Pick up a pair of their shoes with the bar in the heal. Then get the memory foam inserts.
I literally had relief the same day. Not completely gone, but relief.
After a few weeks of wearing them I had no pain. The memory foam is getting old and I need to replace. Evidence by pain coming back.
One more thing. Wear them at all times. Never wear anything else. Never go bare foot.

stretches had a bout of this a while back and these stretches had me fixed up in a short time. the one where you grab your toes and pull toward you seemed the most beneficial to me. also used a medication I got from GNC called Arnica 30x. they seemed to lessen to pain on my worst days.
Go with the flow and you will end up down the drain!

Better shoes. Stretching. Use lacrosse balls, golf balls, a rolling pin or foam roller under your feet and toes.
Shoes and weight often are the culprits. Both can be modified.
If it persists then find a good podiatrist or orthopaedic specialist and get some relief via custom insoles (insurance will pay, if your insurance includes it), cortisone shots (momentarily painful but awesomely helpful) and/or surgery (last resort). A specialist will tell you to start with stretching, ibuprofin to reduce inflammation, ice (frozen peas), shoes, and custom inserts. Typically those are their first recommendations.
Good luck. PF sucks. Had it, got the inserts and injections, changed shoes, it went away.

I fought it for ages and tried everything foot dr wanted. Changing shoes eventually took care of it. You need some shoes that provide a lot of support. I wear ugly Brooks Brothers shoes exclusively and seldom have it hurt too bad.

Thanks for all of the advice. I'm definitely going to try some of the things you guys are recommending. Looks like I'm off to buy some new shoes. I usually wear new balance but it tends to be whatever is on sale. I've never been too picky about shoes. I guess I'm going to have to start. Driving for any distance seems to be one of the worst things for it. We road over to Demopolis and back the other day, which is about 2 1/2 hrs one way. When I got back and got out to open the gate I was limping as bad as if I had a sprained ankle. I have a long, narrow foot with a high arch. I think my foot shape has a lot to do with the root cause of my issues....need better support like y'all are saying.

Driving for any distance seems to be one of the worst things for it. We road over to Demopolis and back the other day, which is about 2 1/2 hrs one way. When I got back and got out to open the gate I was limping as bad as if I had a sprained ankle. I'm 50 and had PF when I was about 35ish. When I got out of bed in the morning I had to grab the wall, dresser, door, etc. to hobble into the bathroom. As we age we aren't as flexible and limber, and we also compound the situation often by not drinking as much water as we should. I was told, along with my foot care stuff (inserts), to stretch daily and stay hydrated. I try to drink at least a gallon of water a day if not more. Have done yoga (great stretching, breathing, it helps) but yoga is nothing more than controlled stretching and breathing. So, for what it's worth, taking time to stretch lower back, hamstrings, feet (Achilles), etc., could also help you.

i couldn't find a pair of new balance that felt "right". tried brooks and no go there either. slipped into some of the high dollar asics and that brand has been the best for me. don't stop at one brand if it doesn't help. keep trying, you're feet are worth it.
also, this is important - get that inflammation cooled down, whatever it takes. i let mine ride from april to december of last year (not that i didn't do anything to stop the inflammation, i did everything i could and went through 3 podiatrists.). the continued inflammation caused the muscle to thicken. i had the operation in december and it is much better. i have some flexing issues when i first begin to walk, if i've been sitting, but after a couple of minutes i'm good to go. i believe this is due to the second part of the operation, not the plantar fasciitis release. i was told to expect a year for full recovery. it's been 5 months so i'm almost halfway there.
i completely gave up driving the toyota tacoma. after the month of no-weight bearing and i was cleared to drive, i was back to everyday life. i swear the toyota seats sit so low that they made me keep my leg a certain way and that made my foot hurt. we had it detailed and it has been parked ever since. been driving a full size gmc with electric seats that adjust every which way and no issues.
you may just need to find a podiatrist and the "right inserts" - could be as simple as that. i will add that every podiatrist i went to said to NOT wear flip flops and to always wear my shoes with the inserts, from the first step out of the bed in the morning to the last and to never go barefoot.

Man I really don't think there is one right answer for that demon.I suffered for 3 years straight with no relief at all.I tried everything that has already been mentioned.Stretching downwards on steps helped slightly but only momentarily.I went out and bought Merril walking shoes, work boots and casual shoes and in 2 weeks was broke but walking without pain.I don't feel 100% but it is manageable now even when I sit for short periods of time and stand up.I spent alot of money over those 3 years and didn't have crap to show for it.It made me feel like some handicap person and was really embarrassing in public when I had to stand up and waddle around but thank God it has subsided.I feel for you and wish I could really help.I feel for anyone suffering with that crap. The last year I had it was the worst though.I was nearly crippled for that last year.

The night splint (boot style off ebay less than $25) and the powerstep pro insoles helped mine. Mine eventually went away with those things. I still use the insoles.

I had heel pain several years ago. Thought I had a spur. Started wearing New Balance and it went away. But mine was in heel not arch.
