Work days and fees are one thing what about equipment how is it handled? Also equipment damage (i.e. flats, broken disk blades. I have always tried to do more than my share and be a good member. Last year I think I covered every green field on our club. I don't mind and believe in using what I have and helping, but it is annoying when the majority show up and ride 4 wheelers instead of working, while you haul equipment back and forth and damage it on rough new food plots.

Hmmm. Maybe because they get to hunt that whole season without putting forth any work effort?

I think planting all the plots on a big lease with your equipment is very likely worth a huge chunk of your membership fee. It would be if you hired it out, and then some.

Our club gives a membership to our tractor guy hopefully that will cover any expenses he incurs........

You haven't been in many clubs then I guess.......Also just because so,me one doesn't show up for work days doesn't necessarily make them a bad member. They could be a ethical hunter that doesn't put a lot of pressure on the property and get a long with everyone........

2 days or $100 per day if you don't work. We match the work to the skill of the person. We all work together when we plant. If you have a tractor and do fields ( spray to kill, bush hog, disk ) then you don't pay membership but you don't get reimbersed for anything you break or any other expenses.

Actually I've been in at least one club every year since 1996. Right now I've got 3 leases that I'm responsible for with different land owners. Things may have changed since I pulled my own leases but we never did it in any club I've been in. It's always been my rule that if you didn't make it to a work day you were assigned something to do before the season started and you couldn't miss more than 1 work day.
Now I have had members that didn't put much effort into work days but they were always put with someone who would make sure they worked on the next work day. If that didn't work they just weren't invited back the next year. Simple as that. But I guess if you have 30 members you probably can't live by this just because of the number of people to keep up with.
I still say its not worth the drama of dealing with members that aren't willing to put the work into a club. If I have to worry about fineing you for not working, your not worth your membership anyway and your gone.
Unless it's the mythical member that pays their dues early every year and never shows for work but also only hunts on opening day then never shows up again till time to pay dues next year. I wouldn't mind having a couple of those.

For a little lesson in reverse psychology, try charging everyone $100 for each workday you intend to have, then pay them $100 for each day they make.

If they can't make it you hire out the missing labor or pay everyone else the difference.

That maybe a way to try it. An see what results come from the change. It makes total sense an possibly the best way to finally get those members we all as club management see every year telling the few that actually show up that we dont do things right or the way we planted is wrong but never do you see them on work/plant days.
