I was going through some storage the other day and came across some old silver. Bunch of spoons, forks etc and some serving trays and cups and what not. Any value to this and if so where would you sell it?

You need a place that will place a value on its collectability....not just the weight of the silver. Pawn Shops are not your friend on this one.

Replacements.com buys and sells silverware. They are probably your best bet. If it's silverplate it's not worth much unless it is collectible.

PM me a list of what you have I might take it off your hands.

Sounds good I will give you spot price where if you sell it to a silver dealer they won't give you that much..

Most shops are only going to pay you for the metal value. I would check out http://replacements.com/ They buy old (and new) patterns and will offer more than scrap prices.

Remember when you are figuring the weights that knives usually have stainless handles. The sterling knives are usually about 12 dpt (pennyweight). The stainless is kinda worthless and to remove the sterling handle from it is a pain in the ass. Most are attached with glue and the handles are pasted into place to make the handle seem heavy. The handle is really just a thin skin

PM me if you have a question...
