We are all where we are for a reason. I am the person that I am today because of the trials and tribulations of my past. However, If I could go back, I would change a LOT of the mistakes that have been made.
But, the couple that stand out in my mind are (1) I would have loaded my car with my guitar and amplifier and gone to Muscle Shoals the weekend of graduation and given that my best effort. ( I got married and joined the Army that fall instead)
(2) I would have invited my brother to go fishing with me the weekend that he committed suicide.
(3) I would have taken the job as bass player with Smokin' Joe Kubek and Bnois King when they asked if I would be interested in playing with them in Europe for three months. (I was newly married...AGAIN..and had a small child at home to feed and clothe)
Those are only three. The list is LLLOOONNNGGG!

I would have changed many many things in areas where I made really bad mistakes, decisions or judgement calls. I'm still feeling consequences of some things I did and others I didn't do-- decades later.

But I would marry my wife all over again and have my children again. I'd still love my Lord.

I woulda kept playing football instead of giving it up after 10th grade (I'd played since 2nd grade and was tired of it), I would have gone in the Army for at least 2 years and I would have gone elk hunting when I was still in my 20s. I also would have been facing the other direction the morning I rattled the 140- inch 10 in on a January morning in North Marshall Co several years back. Never serving in Army probably biggest thing I'd like to do over though.

Hmmmm I could probably name several things that could've/should've gotten me killed, but I'm still here. Everything I've done rotten or good has lead (It was a rough road) me to right where I want to be...

Well I would love my wife more. I would help her with the house work and cooking. I would shop with her instead of thinking of myself. She never complained about my hunting or things I did but sense she is gone I can remember the times I went hunting and left her alone the look on her face was like when are you going to find time for me? I along with a whole lot of you took her for granted. Please think about it. If you have a wife you love and she loves you then you are way ahead of the game. Oh how I wish mine was still here.

Done a lot of stupid things in my life, but have no regrets. I would not change a damn thing.

I barely got out of 9th grade so I would have decided to start studying in 9th grade instead of 10th so my high school GPA would have been better. Would have learned to play bass guitar in high school. No regrets though.

I looking back now believe that everything that happened in my life was in God's own time.I feel like He had His hand on me even through all of my stupid years and I feel like I tuned out a pretty good person,a good husband and the best dad my kids could ask for.I wouldn't change a thing but if I could add anything I would have learned to play the banjo.I really believe that God Himself inspired the invention of the banjo. You can make any other instrument on earth sound sad but there is no way to make a banjo sound sad.

When I was a senior in high school, I had a week long trip to bull shoals lake paid for, for my senior trip. I was gona be catching the biggest rainbow trout around while my classmates were in PC acting a fool. I got a refund and spent that money to rent my first apartment, which I moved into with my first ex-wife on graduation night. I've wished a thousand times I had gone to bull shoals lake. Anyhow, all the mistakes I've made led me to where I'm at right now, so I would be afraid to change anything. I'm right where I'm supposed to be now and 100% satisfied with the life God has blessed me with.

I would have finished High School and never taken a drink of liquor or taken any drugs. I had five really bad years where I would do any drug I could get my hands on. Only by the saving grace of Jesus was I able to stop all the drugs I was taking.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I would have not let my two son's take that trip with my in-laws in 1996. I would change several things after that concerning my oldest son that may have changed his course in life. If that didn't change anything I would just go back and not have had any kids. Only if we could.

I would have listened to the wise advice of my parents more. Would have listened especially when folks said don't be thinking with your little head lol. Regret every day not joining the military. Would spend more time with family instead of work. A problem I still have by the way. I can say after all the bone headed decisions i am now married to the person I was meant to be with. Didn't not speak for 30 years to her after dating in college. It was definitely a gift from God bringing us together again.

I would have become Catholic sooner, been a better husband, father and son. I would have had a tutor in math and got a technical degree instead of a business degree, and I would have gotten more serious with my 401K investments earlier on. My father, God love him, and I miss him very much, suggested I become an engineer and me not marry the woman I'm with now, though he said she was the most beautiful girl I ever dated. He ended up loving my wife very much and realized I didn't make too bad of a career choice, either. My main regret now was thinking he'd be around longer than he was, and how woefully unprepared I was at being the head of my family.

As long as I could still keep my relationship with Jesus, wife and kids then the couple of changes would be: Gotten commissioned as an officer and stay in Air Force until retirement; invested all money wasted on alcohol, cigarettes and fast food. Taken up hunting when it was cheaper and spent time with my dad. Gone on Walk to Emmaus years ago. That said I'm good right now with real regrets because through and bad God gets the glory.

I would have just believed in myself more and what I could do.

I would marry my wife again but I would join the military while in high school instead of being talked out of it. I would be more relaxed coaching my kids in sports. (over compensated for my dads' lack of caring about my sports)
