I saw this posted on Facebook. I don't keep up with the latest and greatest from each of the bow manufacturers, but that just seems crazy fast. Is that normal for the newer top of the line models from other brands?

I'm sure that's with the 5.5 speed pro arrows and probably their 55 grain head, I shot my hoyt alphaburner at 70 lbs 27.5 inch draw 382 with that set up...I don't hunt with that set up the dealer I bought it from just wanted to see what it shot when I bought it.

Probably sounded like a .300WM when it went off too.

I'm sure it did, I had a high country for a few years and the hand shock was unreal and it was loud

My high country is older, but not old enough to have the hatchet cams. It's one of the first split limb bows they made. It doesn't seem overly loud to me and hand shock seems negligible. But then again, I have never shot a newer Matthews, Hoyt, or other good brand bow. Maybe if I don't know what I'm missing, I will save my money and keep my old one for another year or two.

They may want to get chrono re calibrated.

So I have a question regarding this. So the bow shot a light head and light arrow to get to this speed. So I assume it would shoot a little flatter. Would this setup be beneficial for say the Buckmasters style shoots where you have many ranges to shoot, so more point and shoot instead of worrying about ranges? I assume they have a minimum arrow weight or energy calculation, but I am completely ignorant and was wondering.

When you buy a bow it usually shows two speeds on paperwork. The IBO is always fastest and achieved by shooting a light arrow and head. It is however an arrow and head impractical for hunting.

To a degree, but there is a speed limit in Buckmasters. Plus it would be awfully tough toting 60 yards with a single pin, even at 382fps.

You guys obviously havnt messed with any of the their speed pro arrows, I took the same arrow with a 100gr head at a different location on a different chrono and shot 335, now with my hunting set up the bow doesn't shoot but in the lower 290 range and probably less because it needs strings , I worked on bows for several years so I'm not a DA when it comes to them, but believe what you want, you would be amazed at how little changes such as fletchings make a difference in fps

My dad has an older 06 model Hoyt Laser Tec 27.5 in draw he was not getting pass throughs with so he decided to switch arrows and gained nearly 40 fps just by switching arrows from some heavy carbon express that I wanna say were 10+ gpi to beman ics in camo finish that were approximately 8.0 gpi and cut to the optimal length for draw , so big speed gains can be made for example camo vs raw carbon arrows will have a weight difference therefore the camo being a little heavier will produce a slower fps there are many ways to get more speed out of bows if your just a speed freak but for the most part it's not ever worth it, if it's not broke don't fix it

I'm not getting in a pissing match with you here, but if your dad had both arrows cut at 28in. One arrow weighing 10gpi with a 100grain tip would weigh 380. Another arrow cut same length that weighs 8gpi would put total weight w/ 100gr head at 324. That is only around 18-20 FPS not 40. I need to come use the chrono you guys are using.

Care to explain to me how Ibo speeds are calculated? What weight arrow they use? What draw length? What poundage? (I know the answer to these) now explain to me how you beat the Ibo speed by 42fps with a 27.5" draw???

The IBO speed was beat because he was shooting an under weight arrow and head.

It was actually 33 fps your figuring is Just a vague calculation doesn't account for different figures such as nock and insert weight or feathers , how much do you know about a chrono? I used one almost daily I'm just giving you my facts, Things such as light can affect the readings... All I'm giving you is what I have experienced, so take it as you want,the chrono could have been off a bit im not sure but I doubt it, I shot many a Barnett ghost 400 on it and not one ever shot 400 fps most were 380-390.. If I still had acess to it id be more than happy to let you shoot on it since you live so close but I no longer do...I'm not trying to argue with anyone I just don't think a lot of guys realize what these modern day bows are capable of with just minute changes
