With my oldest sons exceptional year, my middle son has felt a little down and out. I could tell the other night around the campfire that his "camp status" wasn't were he wanted it. So this morning after getting all 3 boys off to school I started packing mine and his bags for the hunting camp. Phoned the wife and told her my plans and that's when it started!!!!
The nerve of her telling me that school was more important than killing a buck!!!! Who does she think she is????? LOL
Anyhow I checked my son out of school and under the reason for checkout was HUNTING!!! The principal looked at the sheet and just laughed.....
I've had 12 unanswered messages since 11 o'clock from my wife saying that he has test and can't afford to miss a day of school.....Yada Yada Yada. ....
She doesn't know that I talked to his teacher Sunday night and he's already taken all test and classwork!!!! This should be fun NOT!!!!
BUT IF I CAN GET MY SON ON THAT BUCK I SAW YESTERDAY IT WILL BE WORTH ALL THE ARSE CHEWING! !!!

I love it I am sure he will learn more being in the woods with you for a day or two than he would sitting in class, most of the crap they teach these days isn't worth learning any way!!

A little story from the young'ins perspective:
I had been down for a few weeks back in Jr High. Dont even remember what it was about, but had been upset for a couple weeks. My cousin lived across the street from me and was a Senior at that point in time. We hung out together all the time. One morning, he backed into the drive way with his dads 18' Triton boat. We skipped school that day to go fishing, and it was probably one of the best days of my life. We didnt catch many, but the ones we did catch we good ones. Spent all day laughing and talking.
I still remember it like it was yesterday. It changed my mood around in a quick hurry

Time with loved ones in the woods or on the lake will teach you more than most of those teachers will now days.

I use to love it when my dad would check me out of school to go hunting, good times. your wife will get over it. she's just mad because she's not the cool parent right now!! A good Valentines gift won't hurt either .

I've checked my boy out more than once for the same reason. I'd say your priorities are spot on. I guarantee this is something he will remember later on in life. Learned more today than he ever will any day in school, not just about hunting but about how much his daddy loves him.
