That even though I carry a range finder, I have actually never ranged an animal that I have shot. Not one whitetail or elk.

Just remembered, I did range an elk at one point before I shot him nut, he had traveled about 50 at an angle before I shot him.

FYI,

If you wash your Rangefinder in your jacket pocket you won't have to worry about ranging another animal with that one.

That would be a cool trick I suppose... No cows for me, even though up until this coming season we could shoot 3pt or better or a cow.

I carry a range finder too,i just range objects around me to get an idea of my bow range.I'm afraid to move that much to range a animal,I see videos where they're non chalant about ranging a deer,i guess if you have enough cover it's fine.
