Several of my buddies and I are looking for a place to lease in either Mississippi or Arkansas for the 16-17 season. Found a few places that lease pits for the season but figured I'd check here and see if anybody knew of any places or had any recommendations on who to go through. Thanks in advance.

A duck club can be a lot of fun. Effort put into the endeavor before putting up any money will pay huge dividends in the long run. Although I would look at a lease now, I would't consider lots of ducks in February a sign of a good killing hole. Everyone seems to be covered up after the season. Might be a bag of corn in front of the pit drawing in the ducks and potential members.

First look for guaranteed water. A dirt pit isn't going to draw ducks even if it is loaded with every duck food imaginable. Second previous years kill numbers if available. If not then I would be very skeptical. A place may look great but not hold ducks for a number of reasons. Next look at the blinds, pits, ect. Finally a place to stay. Staying in hotels can be costly and leaves expensive equipment in a parking lot.

The good news is it was universally a horrible duck season. Good clubs will have openings and good leases will be let go this season. Just check references and make sure they aren't the owners second cousin.
