A guy I worked with once told me he was getting a dog and was gonna name it Tis. I took the bait and asked, "Why would you name it Tis?" He said, "So I can stand on the porch and yell here Tis, here Tis."

Whatever suits you just tickles me plum to death.
Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?

I always joked that I wanted a dog named "dammit"...
"Come here, dammit!", "sit, dammit", "heel, dammit"

Uncle had a lab mix that was name yugo. He named it that cause he'd tell the dog "you go everywhere and just can't stay in the fence or house." He found that joker one time in Springville wandering around like a nomad and he lived in Helena at the time. He actually gave the dog to a buddy of his in Jasper and somehow after a few days it got out of his house and showed up at my grandmother's house in Graysville. To this day I'll never understand how the dog tracked itself back to my grandmothers house. After that he kept the dog and it would just rome where it wanted to go. It ended up a few years later dying in the yard of old age

'Huntress has an uncle that used to have a dog named dog...pronounced "dog". He was a stray, a full-blooded Rott that just wandered up one day, and stayed til he died.
Knew some folks down in Fairhope years ago that had a 3-legged Lab named "Tripod".

When I was a duck hunting guide we would always have sports that just had to bring their dogs to the blind. One morning I had a guy a d his dog, guy told me his dogs name was "Spoda". I asked the guy whatdahell kinda name is Spoda. He starts laughing and tells me when he went to get the dog as a pup the owner was trying to show him how he was a good pup. Everytime the owner would try to show him something the pup just wanted to play and the owner kept tellin the pup "you ain't Spoda be doin that, you Spoda be doin what I want". So he named the pup Spoda.
