This is the caliber I have decided on for my next toy. What loads are you shooting, what have you gotten the best results with? Anything about the cartridge that you do not like? I'm still debating on which rifle, prob going with the Kimber 84L Moutnain Ascent, but the new Browning Xbolt Speed has me intrigued.

It is my favorite caliber for deer. I have good luck out of my Mod 70 with Winchester Silvertips 130 gr..

good to hear! I love how the ballistics look on paper, and I'm a short mag slut, so it definitely has my interests at the moment.

Carried an A-bolt in 270 WSM for a couple years. Shot federal ammo, 130 grain accubonds I believe, sub MOA. I killed 6 deer with it, longest tracking job was about 50 yards, a couple DRT.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

My phone screen does not always work right, usually a lot of misspelled words....

I shoot a 270 WSM in an A-Bolt. I love it, but it will ring your ears pretty good in a shooting house. I have fed the A-Bolt Winchester silver tip 130's from day one. The rifle has never seen another bullet, mostly because a box will last me a couple years if not longer. I'll check the sight alignment with a couple shots at the beginning of each year and usually kill a couple deer a year.

My favorite load by a mile is 140 accubonds. It's devastating. They leave an impressive spray of blood and lungs on the other side of your dead deer. wink

I've also had good results with 130 Federal blue box.

I've used 140 accubonds and 150 partitions and they both do more than their fair share to say the least

Im interested in the 270wsm's. Do yall feel that it is a far better round than a regular 270.

Better how? More expensive, harder to find, yes faster. Personally I don't need the extra speed,so I have no reason to endure the rest.

The ammo, while obviously not as common as the standard .270, has become more prevalent in the past 2 years. Winchester and Federal are producing them in all of their primary loads. I'm interested because I'm a big fan of the short action, and I have an infatuation with non-standard calibers.

I find myself using my regular 270 MUCH MORE than the WSM, but its more to do with the rifle itself than the caliber.

In that case, you should enjoy one. It will not however kill deer any better than a standard 270.

Oh that i def understand brother! My dad is a Jack o'Conner disciple who's killed 100+ deer with a '76 model Belgian made BAR in .270....I was raised at the alter of that cartridge.

I bought myself a savage trophy in 270 wsm, I added leupold rings and a 4-12-40 Bushnell elite. Have not had time to shoot it. It will be sighted in and ready for next season.

My buddy swears by the 130gr federal brand moly ballistic tips. He hunts south bama and a 500yd shot is not out of question. I have seen the end result of his shot at a good buck while resting on a round bale. We measured the distance to the bale when we got to deer (drt) and it was approx 475-477
