Hunting Freedom Hills this morning. Set up in some cutover on a main trail between feeding and bedding area. From what I have heard these deer are in full rut. Good luck and stay warm y'all.
It is hard to kill or catch anything sitting on the couch!

I heard one buck grunting and chasing early. Then 1 hour later got snorted at, but haven't seen anything.
It is hard to kill or catch anything sitting on the couch!

That would be cool. I have never heard a deer grunt or bleet..that I know of. I don't know if it's my hearing loss or if I actually heard it, but didn't recognize it for it. I heard and saw a couple small bucks scrapping one year in bow season...and didn't realize what it was until I saw them.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Have heard a few grunts, but they were always will a buck was chasing.

Hunting Black Warrior this afternoon. Set up on a green field the deer are hammering. I wanted to stay at Freedom Hills, but after riding around seeing deer in open fields eating at 12pm, I decided to leave and hunt closer to home.
It is hard to kill or catch anything sitting on the couch!

Jd Bowhunter.Do you think they will be rutting at Freedom Hills the last gun hunt that runs the 29 through 31. I'm sure they will be pretty pressured by then with all the gun hunts going on.
Yes, usually the later in January the bigger bucks start to chase. Mature bucks don't waste energy till the does are about ready.
