Where I hunt is about as close to hunting kansas in alabama as you can get. Cedar groves, sage fields/ thickets, and a few big mature hardwoods. I love it, but it makes the bow hunting tough.

I killed a nice 8 last January that weighed about 175 and after dragging him 300 yards through the holler I'd have sworn he weighed at least 750.

A 4.5 pre-rut buck thats been well fed will most likely be over 200. Much like us. Eats a lot and hasn't been bred in a while lol.

He was gutted and hung on the skinning rack for several days because it never got above 25 degrees on that trip. When we weighed him at the processor he was 215. After that once running begins 175-190 is typical for a mature 4+ yr old deer. That I can think of 4 of the last 12 or so bucks we killed that weighed 200 or just over it.
