Anybody know a good single source for info on hunting the NWR? The website says very little about it.

I assume you need a WMA license and a signed map of the entire WMA, but I'm unclear as to whether you need to check in anywhere, whether you have to do anything more than call the biologist to report kills, whether all the roads shown as little double-dashed lines are accessible via 4WD pickup truck, etc.

I've searched this forum with every keyword I can think of but come up dry.

Not looking for coordinates on anybody's honey holes, just the basic info on what a first timer needs to do there to keep it legal. Feel free to PM me if you don't care to post a reply in open forum. Thanks.

Just need WMA license and map. Report your kills at check station or use the game check system. Only problem with the refuge is you have to park at the entrance and walk about 2 miles just to get into the woods. No vehicles allowed past the gate.

Don't you have to go to the check in station with everybody else when there is a gun hunt?

Don't believe so but could be wrong. The refuge is bow only even on gun days

Does this NWR get hunted much? I looked into going a couple of years ago but never did. I drive by it now every time I go to my lease. I always tell myself I need to go check it out but have yet to do so. if its like others I've been to in the past it should be a pretty good place to hunt.

I'm sure it's good because it's not easily accessible. However, there is a large club or lease next door. They have easy access because the roads you see through the refuge used to be their roads. If they are smart, they are using the refuge as an extension of their club.

What is the name of the club? I need to find a good one.
