Who uses it on their climbers? I never have and a buddy thought i was crazy. Maybe i need to start.

I use the Third Hand ones on my Summit Viper. Excellent product and makes a big difference in my opinion.

SO how do they make it more solid? I know its simple but I'm struggling to understand the physics.

Bottom is attached to the top rail.When you get up where you're going just cinch the straps tight and your standing weight on the bottom pulls the top down tight on the tree.It is so solid that you can actually lean right or left on the top and it wont even wiggle.I tried it about 5ft off the ground just to see how stable it is.I'm not saying this to give myself or anyone a license to be stupid but if you were up high and stumbled left or right it is some nice security.
