I'm looking to take my 10 yr old son on a plantation-style deer hunt in Alabama sometime around New Year's. Was wondering if anyone had a good recommendation for a lodge that works hard at taking care of its young hunters. Any advice will be appreciated.

what kind of experience are you looking for?

Killing a deer is that the most important factor?

Is seeing a bunch of deer more important than killing a buck?

Want a nice lodge to relax in or just a place to sleep?

Want the place to yourselves or you okay with 10 other hunters in camp?

Bryan, I took my son to Dream Lake Lodge in Livingston last year and we had an absolute blast at a reasonable price. My son shot a 9 point and we loved it! Jeff Kelly runs the place and the lodge and food is super!!!

Looking to have a reasonable chance for the kids to kill a 110" -120" buck. Lodge would be nice, but not required. Number of hunters not important as long as we get taken care of.

Thanks for the responses so far.

Would hunting be any good the few days after Christmas?

Would it be better to try to find a private landowner to hunt with?

A lot of the private schools and other organizations that are trying to make money have weekend hunts at very reasonable prices. A lot of the land is very lightly hunted other than these hunts also.

Looks like we will be headed to the Morgan Academy hunt. Thanks Jawbone!
