Is just terrible. I've made 10 hunts this year and have seen 3 deer, and zero does to boot. I've got to make a change and find a club close to home that has a decent deer population. It's only the first week of rifle season and I've already got that burned out feeling. Im getting very few deer pics on camera. The deer just aren't there. I've hunted cutover, pines, hardwoods, funnels, trails, you name it and I've done it. I hunt hard and spend a lot if time in the woods and I would just like to see some deer. This is the worst start to the season for me ever.

Where do you hunt?

I haven't been seeing much either until Monday afternoon and since then it seems like I am seeing them everywhere.

Nocturnal damnation! They only move around here at about 10pm, especially with this full moon we have.

Guys, we've got to shoot more does, then we'll start seeing more deer. At least that's what I've been told grin

Seriously, I feel your pain, I've hunted dozens of times and seen nothing over the years.

I hunted at least 15 times during bow season without seeing a single deer. Then Sunday and Monday I saw at least a dozen but today we hunted morning and afternoon and didn't see a thing. Hang in there and expect the unexpected during the rut.

Look up at the sky right now. Then look at the thermometer. 6 of us hunted a prime farm this pm in Selma and only 1 deer seen. Let the front next week move through and a waning moon and it'll get better.

I think we have all been there. Last year I wasn't seeing anything. January hit and they were everywhere. It just ebbs and flows.

I ran a camera beginning in July at a place that has been very productive. Until mid October (go figure) I was getting daytime pictures everyday of 3 shooters, and several other bucks. I didn't start seeing the does until the first of October. I've hunted there three times and haven't seen anything. It's weird. Now I only get pics of does, mainly at night. However, the same thing has happened (sometimes) in the past, where normally bucks will show up again in early January. Frustrating & weird.

Collectively y'all are right, and I know you are. I just needed to vent. Thanks for the therapy and the encouragement! laugh

I'm in southern Shelby county hunting a small lease and a couple small tracts of private land.

This is the brightest moon I have seen in a while. We should see more deer after it fades. I am not seeing deer yet either.

Yep. Definitely need to shoot more does if we're ever gonna get the deer numbers back up where they need to be.

Just hang in there man ,yo u r luck will change.isaw a pretty good many deer the first week of bow season.but after the first week I went every day to different stands, different land and everyday o deer seen. I was in your shoes. thats until youth season,I couldnt believe it.first I took my daughter ,the first morning of youth season .we sat in a 2 man ladderstand ,I havea ground blind there were I had been bow hunting out of.I couldnt believe my eyes 4 mature d wink es came out 15 yards from the ground blind ,easy bow shot. But they were 125 yards from our treestand ,she missed them, but it was a great hunt with my daughter.then that saturday evening I took my 10 year old son ,again I had a ground blind at this location also. Sure enough a doe stepped out in front about 10 yards from the ground blid and stayed there for 30 min,my son wanted to shoot her bad .buti told him we dint shoot does on that land.his heat sank, but right before last light a good 8 point came out he killed it .he has not stoped bragging yet.the n I killed a big doe today.hang in there your luck will change.

I barely saw anything all season and then monday after the front it was like an entire herd was released from a cage. Deer were everywhere from 9am until dark. Stick with it. If you have good cover and are seeing tracks, the deer are there.

Hunted today and saw nothing. Hunted the same field about this time last year and saw 18 does. I agree with moon and weather as explanation.

This season has unquestionably been the worst season I've had for seeing deer that I can recall. It takes a good bit for me to become uninterested in going hunting and well, right now I'm uninterested in hunting.

Wish it was hunting season.....year round
