Anybody ever hunt the west or northwest corner of North Dakota? My daughter and her family moved to Williston. So, I've got a free place to stay. The NWTF population density maps do not look promising. Few birds, and they're Easterns at that. Maybe my best bet would be to hunt S. Dakota on the way to and from. Any thoughts?

There are some birds there. But it doesnt have the population that some of the other areas of North Dakota or South Dakota have. I duck hunted up there last year. That area is way better for deer, pheasant and ducks than it is Turkey.

Btw on an unrelated note. That place has the highest cost of living if anywhere ive ever been.

I thought about that, but there's only so much money in the budget for travel that i'd hate not to be chasing longbeards while spending it.

COL - yeah its high. Built into her hubby's contract.

Last time I checked, they do not issue out of state licenses for turkey. My mother is from ND and I have an uncle that still runs a large cattle operation near Williston in fact. He said if I could get a license, I could shoot every GD turkey on his place.

Sounds like a good point. It's a very rural state, how many game wardens can there be? grin

It don't take many, they can sit on a hilltop and see 37 miles. They climb on top of barns in Oklahoma and look for folks, don't ask how I know. smile

So, I checked the regs this morning. Nonresidents can't hunt spring turkeys, but may hunt fall turkeys if residents don't buy up all the tags.

Well when you are an aldeer legend word gets around. You oughta get you some straight billed hats and some neon bedazzled hoodie's made up and start your own hunting show. #hatersgonnahate laugh

I do need to get me some YEKRUT game calls hats made up this winter. 2 of them so I'll have enough to give all of my friends one. smile

You could make several episodes out of some of these road trips we go on and this year is shaping up to be another good one. I don't know if anyone would watch an episode of us driving down the road or not, but that's some of the best comedy you could have sometimes with the crap that gets talked about.

Trip ain't planned yet. Just pondering the possibilities. Lookin into Florida too. The NE/KS trip has put the itch into me.
