I would be willing to bet that dogs kill more fawns than coyotes. I say this because I see ~10 dogs (strays, pets, lost hunting dogs, etc) for every coyote that I see in the woods.

Id take that bet. Sounds like an issue particular to your area.
Ive only seen 2 dogs in the woods my entire life.

We have a problem with both dogs and yotes. We are doing our best to resolve these problems when opportunity presents itself.

Dogs destroy more turkey nests than any natural predator as well.

I think yotes is sharper than dogs. Might be the difference in sightings to actual no of coyotes impacting deer.

from what I saw Monday evening, yotes. I watched three of them for 20 mins hunting a 2 yo clearcut, winding and jumping up bedded deer, then one chase them and the others flanking the deer and trying to get in front of them. I watched them do this to 4 different times to deer in the clearcut before one of the yotes got gut shot. Those yotes had a game plan and you could see them working it, this was not the first time they had hunted like this!

Dogs are a lot more selective about what they will eat compared to a yote. I have watched yotes eat pears and corn.

A yote kills 3x what a dog will. IMO.

Probably so..... That is the reason that the deer population has always been so low.....dogs. Now that coyotes are on the scene and targeting feral dogs, the deer herd really seems to be exploding!!!
SMH....

Those yotes had a game plan and you could see them working it, this was not the first time they had hunted like this! I saw 3 bobcats hunt that exact way once. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I figure the cats were hunting rabbits or something smaller but it was obvious their intent was to jump something for the 3rd one to catch. They stayed in perfect range and in synch with each other as they walked that field. I figure for them to be able to hunt like that they must have a much more complex communication and reasoning skills than we'll ever know.

I seen one with a fawn this year and I saw red. I do not descriminate between yotes and dogs that roam incessantly and chase deer. People don't let their hunting dogs roam like folks who don't care about them do.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Temik meatballs will kill the snot out of yotes....and dogs...and the possum that feeds on the yote...and the buzzard that eats the possum...and the ants that eat on the dead buzzard..and so on and so on....
I don't believe that dogs kill any where near as many fawns as yotes do....
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
