I have not had the opportunity to hunt a lot this season and I am determined to hunt all day tomorrow even though there is a crappy East wind. What are some tatics for hunting East winds? Honeslty is it just a myth that East winds are bad? Should I stay in the woods? Thanks.

You can't kill them if you don't go. It has been my experience the people that kill the most deer is the people that hunt the most. Just keep the wind in your face and don't worry about which direction it is blowing

I wish it were simple enough to just keep the wind in your face. But it seems like most days it blows from every direction possible in the hills where I hunt.

I hate east winds but they don't slow me down a bit. Everyone around here always ask how I kill so many deer. It's simple, I'm always in the woods. My success rate ain't near as high as what most people think.

I like an east wind. I've got one property that I hunt that I can only access from the west. Lots of good deer on that place. Think that's where I'll go in the morning.

I swear it's been SE 90% of the times I've been this year, which is the worst possible for some areas I want to try out.

I use to set up most of my stands for a north est wind because that was the predominant wind direction. The last couple of years it does seem that there has been a change to a lot of east/south winds.
It must be the global warming.

Well what I do is hose down, with vannila extract.I have fond idont get busted by deer nearly used to.I just buy a bottle of scent killer.when I usedall the spray ,I started buyina pure vaniia extract and refilling the bottle.it works well its a very good attractant, sometimes they follow you right to the tree.and is very good for camera pictures.if you want to kill a deer smell like a sorce of food.you may think im crazy ,but atleast give it a try.

My problem with the East wind is that most of my stands are for a south, west, or north wind. Therefore an East wind just limits my stand selection. I have not seen it be any worse than the other winds, just not as prevalent. This year though, there have been lots of days from the East.

I don't care what direction it as so long as it blows 5-15 and is in one direction. I hate light and variable days

Wind out of the West - hunt your best. Wind out of the East - hunt your least. The truth is the hunter that is in the woods the most - kills the most.

East wind forces most of us to hunt different stands and areas. In theory we should get opportunities to harvest deer that have us patterned.

get out of the permanent stands and same stand locations and just set up on them from a different direction, where you have the wind in your face.
Great time to sit on the ground brushed in and bushwack em from where they least expect you to be, while they are standing there staring at the shooting house or stand you are usually in
