What yaw think? I've been running a poulan for several years that was given to me. It's acting up.......I'm working on it and may get it to going but have an itch for a new better saw that will last a long time.

I've run several huskys and like them but it seems that many big box stores are carrying them these days and that usually means large cheap and quickly produced lots to me. Stihl doesn't seem to go that route. Anybody got any input on the two? Anyone had issues with either that were purchased in the last few years?

I dropped my new Stihl in the warrior river a few days ago with it still running. It stayed submerged in about 4' of water for about a minute before I could get it back up. I pulled the spark plug, drained the fuel, and turned it over a few times. Put the sp back in and filled with fuel and she runs just like she did before. That's probably not a good test to go off of, but I figured it was done after that.

I can't say about the newer Husky but, I do have the last Rancher 55 that they put out and its a goodun. If i bought new now it would be Stihl.

You have your box store Husqvarnas and then their pro saws. The Lowes saws are the homeowner. The XP saws are great saws but you will find those at a dealer.

Same as a Stihl farm boss 290 -291 is cheaper than a Stihl MS362 but they are around the same CCs.

Husqvarna seems to turn up harder for same cc and weight as a Stihl. If you get a pro grade , they are both good saws.

Stihl. I have a 029 Super farm boss, a MS250, and a MS362 PRO. All are great saws. The PRO line of Husky saws are good too. Stay away from the big box store line of saws

Appreciate the replies. I know it's almost like ford vs Chevy but I figured I'd ask. Leaning towards a Stihl but not 100% on anything right now. Whichever I get it wont be from a big chain store.

I do have a Stihl 362 and it has been a very good saw.
I cut a good bit of wood and it's handled some large oaks with no problems.

I think it weighs close to 13 lbs though.

I've had my rancher 55 since 03, I think. Haven't ran it since March. Pulled it out of the shed Saturday, it cranked in 3 pulls. (Same fuel from March, also.) For my money, chainsaw=husqvarna. I

Get a stihl, but a larger model not the small ones without kick-back chain.

Both are great saws. I have a Husqvarna that I've worn out two bars with over the last 18 years. No complaints.
