Broccoli loves fertilizer, Also when you start cutting the heads just leave the plants and more heads will produce into the spring. Yep. I've never had any live through the winter up here.

Mine makes it, but our South Alabama climate is a lot warmer. If I see its going to be a hard freeze I'll cover for the night.

Cut stalks on an angle so water doesn't sit on the cut stem. I've had some rot out. That's a good tip. It also freezes really well if you have a vacuum sealer/saver.

I like to grow several dozen. One plant will produce one good head. Once cut it will produce several smaller heads. Thanks

Good luck if you got rabbits. Planted 48 last year and 12 brussel sprout and they ate them all.

Good luck if you got rabbits. Planted 48 last year and 12 brussel sprout and they ate them all. I'm on rabbit patrol, one is starting to get a taste for mine. This is my first time planting broccoli. I've had mine in the ground for about a 3-4 weeks and the plants look great so far. How long does it take before a head will start to form?

Ya'll ever eat the leaves on broccoli? We like them better then collards. We plant Brussels sprouts just for the leaves also. They are a sweeter tasting leave.

Broccoli and brussel sprouts IMO are like tomatoes out of the garden. There is NO comparison to store bought ones. You will be happy you grew them. Just watch on these warm days we are having slugs LOVE them and will ruin a plant in short order.
On the Eighth day God created flounder.
