Ummmm.....my property goes by Crooked Creek hunting club but it's just some land I hunt along with the owners son in law. Where about are you in Thach? I've lived there for 30 years.

Grew up on Johnsey Bridge Road. I'll be there next week for Thanksgiving.

Btw - if we saw a deer track growing up, you ran back to the house and bragged about it. The area around Marigold had a small established here back then. But not very widespread.

Yep, 1984 was the first time I saw a deer here.

I killed a couple of good ones when I was younger up here. We sold off the majority of our place years ago not thinking we'd ever move back. Hindsight..lol we love it up here.

J.O. killed a good one several years ago. They used to kill a lot if deer off his place.

I don't doubt that - always been some quality deer in that area. Just not always numbers of deer.

My Grandparents lived on Johnsey from about 1973-99. Used to see a few good deer up there.

I killed my first deer with a bow an 8pt up that way. My cousins old place was before you get to the church on the left on 195. Whoever owns it now has a HVAC sign on the side of the highway now. Man I've got a good story about that place. A couple years before they sold, the land behind was being stripped. I was up a tree watching a little green patch I had in there. I was listening to heavy machinery for a couple of hours, then around 4 it got quite. I thought to myself I guess they're shutting down early today. I then hear beep, beep, beep next thing I know all hell breaks loose they set off charge and I thought it was over. I have a death grip on the tree at this point, everything is shaking, rocks and other debris are landing all around me. Not to mention I'm getting nailed with the it. Then the biggest dust cloud I've ever seen engulfs me. I'm trying to get down the tree dirt in the mouth, and nose, can't see 5ft in front of me. Needless to say if I ever heard a beep again I got my big tail out of the tree. I blew dirt out of my nose for 3 days after that.

Little too close to an active high wall to be up a tree!

They blasted from the other side of the pit, probably a half mile away. It was just a huge charge. The deer in there paid that equipment no attention at all, they acted like it was normal.
