we used to find shark teeth in a couple of creeks in west Greene Co.

Never looked for them there but I would imagine there are a lot. Almost any sandy creek or river below the fall line has them. Build a 3x3 square or so out of boards and staple some metal screen to it to sift with and you can rack up in many places.

Cut clay cliffs below the fall line are another good spot to find them. In 8th grade or so we had a field trip to a spot several miles north of hwy 84 in a spot where the north south highway cut through a hillside. The banks were 20 ft high or so ( like most) you could dig into the clay hillside and get many sharks teeth. Pretty cool to find them.

Man that's awesome. Makes me wish I was still in Bama. I recall going down to Union Springs during a 'special' class is elementary school to dig fossils. We found some cool stuff. That class changed me forever.

Found a bunch on the river at Claiborne, the sepulga is only a half mile or so from our club, may have to start looking in other creeks on our place.I did find a petrified clam or mussel or some kind of shellfish up there when I was a kid while turkey hunting,it was a little bigger than a golf ball and about 3 inches long

I've picked up shark's teeth below the Point A dam for 40 years. Never found any quite as big as the one pictured in the article, but some pretty close. In the clay cut on the south bank, after a big rain...you'll find a bunch. Takes a while to "train your eye" for what you're looking for, but once you do, you'll see them.

I hunted a place I Russell Co. A while back that had a large creek on it with 20 to 25 foot cliffs. Used to walk the creek some and pick up clam shells as big as coconuts. Some of them were 6 inches across and 1 1/2 inches thick and weighed a couple of pounds. Never found and sharks teeth though.

There's a place between Opelika and Hurtsboro where I use to find sharks teeth.

X2 on what fourfive45 said. At the dam in river falls I used to find them by the bag fulls. I've got a couple from there that are probably 2 inches long or longer

From that far inshore to this far offshore, reversal of habitat. What an amazing state we live in.

I have a cousin who used to dive for mussles for a living. He's been in all the big rivers across the eastern and southern US. He has quite a collection of unique finds and some wild tales of critters in big water rivers. Tons of large sharks teeth and a very cool mortar and pestil made of stone from around the 1600s he found in the Scioto R in Ohio . No telling what all is in the bottom of the Ohio, Missouri or Mississippi rivers.g

Not far from my little place in Aliceville. I dont know about finding any as large as the one in the AL.com photo but they are really easy to find there. Especially after a rain.

My place in Sumter has big shells like an oyster shell in many fiends. I have been told that that was the coast line Cretaceous period.

I would really like to go camp out there at Shark Tooth Creek. The Sipsey river area in general is really neat to me.

Sharktooth creek is a pretty cool place. I went with my daughter on a field trip for school. Each person could keep 15. The rest went to him. He had a 55 gallon barrel full of them. He did say that he put them back in the creek.
