Seems like more controlled burning would help out drastically with this .

Most doctors, even the urgent care ones, are pretty quick to notice signs of a tick borne infection. Doxycycline is the antibiotic of choice and is really effective. I have read a bunch of reports of lifelong problems associated with infection, and it seems to affect those that didn't get treated promptly. I have had RMSF about 3 times. Luckily, I knew what the signs were and went in for treatment. Lately, I have had what seem like relapses, where I have high undulating fevers, neck/joint aches, headaches, etc. If you have symptoms, go get it checked. Make them put you on doxy ASAP. The titers they run will take a little time, and may not show up positive, depending on the time and your bodies immune response.

It is in Cleburne county, do not fool yourself into thinking it is not. Watch yourself carefully and go to the doc at the first signs of any type of flu-like symptoms or bulls-eye rashes where the bites were.

You would think but I read something a short while back that said it didn't help. Something like after 1 year can't tell the difference in the number of ticks before and after.

I know of two people who got Lymes in Elmore County back in the early 90's. I know of one who got Lymes near Camp Mac in the late 80's. Its been here state-wide for a lot longer than the "officials" will recognize.

I know I have mentioned this before on this forum, but my daughter went 15 years without a diagnosis. The longer you let this disease go, the worse it is, and harder it is to treat. I have to watch my 26 year old daughter suffer every minute of her life. Hardest thing a parent can do!

a couple years ago my son 20 at the time became very sick after a tick got under his arm. Drs did not know what was wrong with him and he found the tick and it appeared the area where the tick was was very red and puffy. He ran fever 102 to 104 for 5 days in the hospital. THey ran all kinds of test and could not pinpoint what the problem was as all test came back ok. ONe ole doctor said he has seen many different forms of tick borne disease and a lot have no names. the old folks just called it tick fever. To make a long story short he almost died from it but is ok now. After that I have become very scared of the little buggers.

Sorry to hear brother. It just isn't fair the way this has played out.
