Anyone out that can ID this stock? I've got some ideas but can't say for sure. It has 54729 stamped on the butt but also has s small 07 circled on top of the butt. Is it old or a modern copy of an old military rifle?

Thats what I thought. I had an SKS before and don't remember mine being stamped on the stock.

Looks like an SKS. Try googling SKS stocks and compare.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

SKS, and you can google up that serial number and figure out about when and where it was made. Looks like a typical Norinco to me.

Will do skinny. I just bought it on a whim and have completely no use for it.

It wont do you much good without the upper part of the fore stock.

I hadn't looked under it Wes to see if there is a cleaning kit. All I noticed was it was a steel butt plat with 2 bolts securing it. I'll look closer for the cleaning kit. It is in almost perfect condition. No scratches but a few indentions in the wood. Guy from work said his grandma was cleaning out her closer and was going to throw it away and he brought it to work to get rid of it. I'll find out on the cleaning kit but def plan on selling it of someone is interested.

It has the cleaning kit in the butt. Appears to have never been removed as the parts in the cleaning kit still have oil on them with no scratches or rust to show it had been used. Deadoralive when I get time I'll post in classifieds and will include your upper. If someone buys it I'll get with you and pay you for it. Too bad we are a long way apart so it may be tricky making a deal with someone willing to pay shipping atleast once. Thank you for offering.
