Like the title says,

Sitka, First lite, Core 4 Element, Under Armour, Kuiu, other high end outerwear. Does anybody use this stuff hunting here in the south or east? How well does it work for "stand hunting" and what brands and layers do you use.

I don't own any of the above. But was considering buying a piece or two for hunting out west. But I hate to spend that kind of money on camo and not be able to use it here hunting back east.

I bought a pair of First Lite pants and midweight bottoms on sale this summer to wear on a Colorado hunt next month, but I really like the fit and weight of both and plan to wear them during deer season here. I plan to wear the pants during turkey season as well. They seem to be well made and durable. I will find out after a few days of wearing them hunting. I tried on the Sitka pants and didn't like the fit.

I've got two Sitka lite weight jackets and a pair of lite weight pants. The jackets are very warm for the weight. The pants are well made but feel like a thick pair of polyester dress pants. I wear the jackets a lot more often than the pants. I also have a cap and beanie made by Sitka. I bet their gloves would be warm but I don't know for sure.
Sitka apparel seems to run a little small.

Was in Illinois last November and realized I'd forgotten my neck gaiter. We stopped at a store and I bought a Sitka fleece gaiter. Best one I've ever had and well worth the money. Soft, comfortable, quiet and very warm.

I made the move to Sitka and it was the best decision I have ever made in hunting clothes. It is the most comfortable, best fitting most well thought out hunting clothes I have ever had. Comparing it to Browning and Scent Lok pieces. I have the Early Season shirts and pants, Stratus jacket and pants, Fanatic Jacket and bibs. I mix and match according to weather. When its really cold I can wear the Fanatic jacket with one layer under it and only the bibs with nothing. Mine is last years camo pattern but I firmly believe it works. I swear deer seem to look through me, not nearly as spooky as in any other camo I have ever had. Can't recommend Sitka enough. Had a slight issue with appearance of camo on stratus pants and they gave me a new pair with no hassle at all - after I had worn them. Even rush shipped them to me so I would get in time for next hunt.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm gonna try either kuiu or core 4 element stuff. Like I said above if I spend money on this it will have to pull some double duty for hunting back east. I guess, I just needed some reassurance lol. I have never spent more than $50 on a single piece of camo in my life. And I complain all the time to my wife on the "high cost" of jeans and carhartts.

I know this stuff isn't jeans and should be some high quality lightweight stuff.

Too expensive for me. I used Cabelas Microtek and Helly Hansen rainwear when I went to AK. Use it in Alabama too.
Works perfectly. No need to spend 1K on 2 pieces of outerwear.

I use military BDU's here in Oregon... They last several years and the GIANT stickers (briers) do not pull threads out. My buddy got a pair of Sitka's this past year and I could see the threads pulling out. Trails, open terrain, sitting in a tree, I think the Sitka's would be fine. If ya want light, the brands you mention are definitely the way to go. Lots of guys on the east side use the light stuff.

Several years ago, like 1994 or so, I got tired of getting wet when wearing Polar Fleece in the rain. I dropped the coin to the tune of $400 and bought a Cabela's Dry Plus rain suit and caused an extended drought in the south. It didn't rain again for about 3 years but when it finally did I stayed dry. And I still have the rain suit and I still stay dry in it even when it rains laugh

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
