I'm taking my 4 yo grandson to the B-ham Zoo Thursday. Any suggestions or good ideas on eats and stuff while we're there? Thanks.

Don't eat at the Zoo. It is crap and expensive. There is a Sneaky Pete's hotdogs in Mountain Brook village right by the zoo.

Billy's is up the hill from the zoo. If you come out of the zoo, take a left and follow the road. You will go through one light and Billy's is on the left. It is a good hamburger, chicken finger place. Typical tavern type food.

If you want to drive a little, not far. Saw's Juke Joint is where you should go. About 7 or 8 minutes from the zoo. great food. get some okra

Saws Juke Joint in Crestline is close to the Zoo.
Don't worry about the name, it is very kid friendly.

I thought you might be stranded in Ensley

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Go as early as you can. We try to go when they open. Most of the animals are up and eating at that time. A lot more fun when you can actually see them moving around.

If you like cajun food, head on down hwy280 to Papadeux.

I went a few months back. They have redone the area where the elephants and giraffe's are. It was really nice.

I don't think they have ribs at the juke joint in crestline for whatever reason. They do have fantastic smoked chicken wings. I know they have ribs at the original saw's in homewood/edgewood. Their ribs are my favorite as well. If i could make some half that good i'd be a happy man.

I just eat the cheeseburger at the Juke Joint. Best burger in Birmingham by far.
