I have a few mounts of varying ages in my house and they're doing great, but I may be about to obtain a big shoulder mount of a bull. I want to hang it in my shop, which is not insulated, heated, or cooled.
It can get really hot and really cold in there. There's no direct sunlight and very few bugs. I keep a pretty clean shop.
Before I pull the trigger on this cool mount, I was hoping some of you gentlemen or taxidermists can give me some advice about how to care for it in my shop or if it's a bad idea all together. It would be a fairly significant purchase, so I don't want to make the deal if it's going to fall to pieces or be eaten by bugs.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If I am spending the money to mount a trophy animal, I would not take the chance. I am sure the heat and humidity would not be good for the taxi glues.

The mount that I may buy is an old, established mount, if that makes any difference.

It probably won't last. Eventually the constantly changing humidity will pull the detail areas. Even if the hide was tanned and prepped correctly dermestids will probably infest it as well and start causing hair slippage. Timeframe for damage depends on how well the mount was done.
