I have the Hunter Safety Systems Ultralite and a Muddy Safety Harness (I forget which model). I like the HSS a little better than the Muddy, but I don't mind the Muddy. The Muddy was pretty cheap. I think I paid 60 bucks at Bass Pro. I would also suggest the rope style tether. They are so much easier to use and they are gold for using as a lineman belt to hang stands.

You wont be wearing bibs during bow season. I'd suggest you not buy one in a vest either. Im older too . I sweat when I climb, a vest would absorb the sweat and odor. Just something to consider. Last time I checked TreeSpider made several models. Make sure you get one that does include a linemands harness built in as Norton suggested. I'm glad you got smart. It only takes a second to be hanging upside down 20' off the ground or worse. Hunt Safe

It works great, rated up to 300lbs. Can buy at walmart. Then I get the rubber coated tree strap and put one on all of my main stands, (carry one in my bag for remote/less used spots) carabiner clicks in quickly and quietly when you get to the top. Gorilla brand (as most do) comes with linesmens belt as mentioned above [img:center] [/img] [img:center] [/img]

currently use a gorilla vest-style, don't particularly like it....been meaning to switch to a rock climbing harness but just haven't gotten around to it yet.
will likely buy a Black Diamond Vario harness when I do.

I use the HSS Pro series for bow and gun hunting. I like it because it has plenty of pockets (I don't' use a backpack) and it has a built in binocular harness.
X2 on the rope style tether. Makes it MUCH easier to slide the tether up the tree as you climb as opposed to the belt that's included in the package.

I use the Hunter Safety System Bowhunter harness. I haven't hunted with it, but have climbed up in the tree a few times. It seems comfortable, and I got a good deal on it. i've had HSS also, and like the harness part equally as well. Only thing that sets gorilla apart is the part that connects you to the tree.

I'm gonna use a rock climbing harness this year. I've used Hss, muddy, and all kinds of cheap ones in the past. I use a Summit SOP Original and like it a lot. Although it is the only one that I have used besides those that comes with stands when you buy them. I been reading and watching videos this week on the rock climbing harness. Never really had heard of them until this week while surfing youtube. They seem to be really nice and makes a lot of sense. However just like with anything else there seems to be split 50/50 with folks that are for them and folk not for them. I might add the negatives are most always from from folks that have never used them and the positives are most people that are into rock climbing as well. I don't know I can't say but from the videos that I've watched be dang if I'm about convinced myself.
