Friday I drove 3+ hours and my buddy drove 4+ hours to meet George Robertson the Chief Forester for Scotch land management in Thomasville to look at some land we wanted to lease. I'm sure a bunch of you lease land from scotch and have direct dealings with George.

The tour went great and we thought George was a good guy and We were ready to write a check for the deposit. When we got back to our truck he asked how many of us turkey hunt. I told him we had 2 that pay full membership just to turkey hunt. George said well this won't work because he wants whoever leases it to write him a permit for him to turkey hunt during the week and for him to bring his buddy from Arkansas 2-3 times per year because he trades turkey hunts for duck hunts in Arkansas.

My buddy point blank asked him if was giving us an ultimatum that he would not lease it to us unless we wrote him a permit so he could turkey hunt. George replied "yes sir" I called the president of Scotch (steve Crowley )and he said he appreciated the call and would talk to George but that is the last I heard about it. I have never heard of such BS where an employee would try to lease out company land and wants us to pay full lease price and he wants us to plant fields on our dime so he can hunt it during the week and then use it so his friend from Arkansas could come turkey hunt with him a few times in exchange for George going duck hunting in Arkansas.

I've debated posting but feel like we got screwed and got no apology I thought maybe others won't get screwed after driving so far like we did.

That call to the President want do anything..They'll just find someone else to lease the property..To my knowledge Ole George has always done that..

Would it have killed him to make it known that the lease did not include turkey over the phone? Why did he let you drive all that way and then say "oh by the way you can't hunt turkey here?" Maybe you'll ask before you drive next time.
