Just plug it up about 3-4 hours then wipe it out. Wash the lava rocks.

Seems like if you turned it on its highest setting for a while, it would kill anything living. Did that first off. Went in and scrubbed everything down really well and even used some simple green. Got it fired up again to dry it out and hopefully put a bit of the seasoning back in it (that was sad to see the flavor leaving, lol). Now the big question - what to smoke first? What type of meat goes well with mold and simple green? I'm thinking the apple smoke will pair well with them.

I had the same thing happen before, did the same thing you're doing. Burn it off, clean it, burn it again, and re-season...worked like a charm!
