I went and checked my game cams yesterday and the mosquitos almost carried me away. What do you guys use while bow hunting? I have a can of No Stinkin' bugs, but I can smell the deet in it. Don't know that I've ever spooked deer because of it though. What else can I use?

Thermacell & they make earth scent pads as well as plain. Walmart has plain thermacell and refills. Bass Pro & other hunting stores probably have earth scent. Just remember it takes a few minutes to warm up & be effective but they work well.

I've used the earth scent & regular bowhunting & doesn't bother deer. I just like earth as a cover scent. Make sure you get enough refill packs with fuel cartridge & mats. Mats last 4 hours and turn white as run out. Fuel lasts a lot longer. Geneva AL Walmart had the Thermacell last week at $19.99 I think. $19.99 is good price. They had the refill packs as well which come with butane cartridges & pads. Not sure how much refill pack was. Get at least 1. I'm sure your local Walmart will have in stock as well.

MW if you turn the pad over when it turns white, youll find they last twice as long. Yes 19.99 is a super price. tidefan buy the holster too. It has pockets for extra pads and butane. When i hang my stand I attach the holster to the base and by the time I get up the tree its working. By attaching it to the base the smoke rises and covers your body. Putting it on the top of your climber wouldnt protect your legs.

Cool I try that. Yes definitely get the holster. Makes it easier to carry & the pockets for extra cartridge & mats is a definite plus.

I'm with you CNC. I got bit bad last week but that was not the worst. When I used to hunt the Everglades in South Florida I would get ate up bad by them. Those were the worst days in deer camp in the Glades & they got in my britches too. Make Mosquito bites seem like nothing & the thermacell doesn't help stop chiggers.

I'll tell you what else ate me up this past week was the deer flies. I was weed eating, bush hogging, clearing treestand sites & spraying roundup to start burn down for Fall plots and they massacred me. I had welts on my face & they wouldn't let up. Then a yellow jacket or some wasp bit me. My whole lower lip started itching & tingling and swelled up like crazy. Took a Benadryl but took 7 or 8 hours to go do down.

And to end the week on a bright note, one of the folks at the hunting club was walking around in shorts and almost got bit by a copperhead. He just saw it before almost stepping on it

But on a bright note, I finally got rid of the damn raccoons at my deer feeder in FL. You can read about that on the squirrel and varmint section where I posted story. Talk about bastages.

FYI, the butane cartridges for butane powered curling irons are the same cartridge but cheaper. They're in the beauty section of WalMart

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Cool. That's a good tip. Figured there had to be a similar sized generic butane that would fit
