My current truck (in the effin shop) is a 4x4 Ford XL. Other than being in the shop, it is fine.

What would you buy?
Another F150 XL
Chevy
Dodge (gas or diesel?)

They are all going to run ~#33k-ish

What year and How many miles on the current truck? What kind of issues is it giving? Is it paid for?

I'm just basing it off what my customers who own auto repair shops tell me. Even my brother who is a die hard Chevy guy(and runs a shop) will admit the Chevys of the last 10 years have a bunch of issues. He did tell me a couple weeks back that one of the Ford engines had several problems while the other was good. I drive a car and have an old f250 I bought to hunt out of but would have bought an old Chevy if I'd found one. Other than Toyota I don't have any real brand loyalty.

I've always drove chevrolets. I've never had many problems out of mine. If you treat me right and take care of them they will return the favor. And..... Ford sucks!

I too have a large customer base that are both mechanic shops and used car dealers. Ford versus Chevy from 03-07 ford loses hands down no contest.

What chance GM had of getting me back after the bailout was lost forever with their "The American Family is changing" ad campaign from the last Olympics. This is the commercials that showed 15 or so "families" with several of the parents being the same sex.

I like my 2500 dodge though. Chevy is okay and so is Ford. I can say that Ford does not stand behind their products if you have problems. At least in my experience. I will never own another for that reason.

Heck at least dodge is buying back their problem vehicles...even if it is Gov. mandated. Ford and Navistar screwed a lot of people.

I bought a used F150 2013 model with 4k miles for about that last year. If you take time and look they are out there.
I was a chevy driver for many years but the past two trucks have been Fords.

My Tacoma brand new back in 05 was 34,000. I looked at some new double cab Chevys. They like 45-60,000.

I'll never buy a new truck. Too d@mn expensive. I bought a 04 Sierra 2500 crew 4wd for $8k. I put about $4K in it. I've rebuilt the front end, transmission (shop built), new tires, rear end work, all new brakes/rotors/pads, rebuilt driveshaft..little motor work on things that needed replacing (prior owner didn't know what maintenance was).. It has a few scrapes/marks, but it runs as good as new.

I bought a 2011 Chevy z71 last year and pretty much stole it. I wasnt looking to buy a truck but I couldn't pass it up. So far I have had no problems with it but only drive it maybe one day a week and to to pull my boat. My brother has an 08 f150 and has had no problems out of it. If I were to buy anything else it would be another tacoma (miss my old one) or a 2500 dodge cummins. Get whatever you like and whatevere is the best deal. Good luck!

Used Tacoma double cab 4x4 longbed

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

nah just stay away from a 2003-2007 ford truck and you will be fine. the newer ford f-150 with the 5.0 is also a good motor. as for a Silverado, the 07-10 have oil consumption issues that is an easy fix. I don1t much about a half ton dodge except the newer ones look good and get good fuel mileage. my only complaint about a Toyota is ride comfort. I don't care to rub elbows and shoulders with a guy and that will happen in a Tacoma. tru-talker drives a Nissan, that's reason enough to run from those.

You might be better off finding you a nice car. Toyota Camry is about $18k brand new. Then find you a 4x4 that you can get dirty and don't mind taking it in the woods. You'll come in way less than $30k

That sounds good and all, but the man said he wants a NEW TRUCK not a vagina wagon and a used truck.
