Try to get a leaf. It's much easier to identify oaks that way.

Whatever kind it is you should probably plan on hunting close to it!

It's a bit too big for a water oak, plus water oaks have smooth cups. That's a pin oak (chica pin). Deer will murderlate them jokers!

Not a water oak.

Appears to be in the white oak family. Like others, need leaves at a minimum.

I'll try and get pics of tree next weekend. I put a camera on a trail by thesese trees. There were a few acorns in the ground there, not sure why? Maybe squirrels cut em down?

Country boys call that a post oak acorn. I guest because the wood is easy to split and makes a good fence post. Deer do love the mass.
