Anybody ever try light rattling early in bow season? I have, over the years, seen bucks spar playfully early in the season and was thinking about taking the ol' rattling horns with me this October and seeing if I could pique the interest of a local buck and draw him out. Has anyone here ever had success with this?

I tried it last year to try and get killer, a B&C Buck by far and when I started I happened to have a little 6 point real close that I didn't know was there and it spooked him and he spooked them all

Ain't tried rattling but couple seasons back in early bow season I had a bachelor group out of range. I grunted, no luck, I snort wheezed and they came running. Killed a good 9pt.

I never go to the deer woods w/o my small rattling horns.I made them from left side of one deer and right side of another deer.I "rattle" during bow season and it has worked for me.Ir needs to sound more like a couple of youngsters playing around than it does a couple defending territories.

done it for years, killed a few bucks because of it. A buck will come to the horns at any time of the season, done correctly.

I've had luck in early bow season lightly rattling, with some short grunts mixed in. Also witnessed a group of 6 bucks,w/ 3 studs in the group,at about 80 yards in the woods sparing for about 10 min; forgot my grunt call that morning, and decided to use my mouth. Prob sounded nothing like a decent grunt call, but did my best. Sure enough, through the leaves, I saw one of the studs looking my direction with some interest. I grunted one more time,& 4 of the 6 bucks made their way back to me.1 of the studs got to 41 yards, and I shot right under him. Dad killed him about 6 weeks later with a scoped pistol on a greenfield.

Thanks for the input guys. Knowing that it's worked for others has given me the confidence to give it a try this October.

Rattled a 3.5 year old 8 in last year opening morning of gun season. I had about a 100 pictures of him in the area prior to and had already decided to let him grow another year.
