Like the butane idea. Not sure if I want to inhale permethrin through on refilling the pads.

I stopped by Tractor Supply today and picked up a quart of permethrin, two 5.5oz cans if butane and two syringes. Spent $30.75. The quart of permethrin was the most expensive item at $20. They do sell 8oz sizes for $7. The quart of permethrin will last for a LONG time. I figure I should be able to get about dozen cartridge refills with 11oz of butane.

I've been refilling my own for the last two years and it's worked great for me. This does remind me I need to get to the store and get some more butane.

Just refilled the only empty cartridge I had. Once I got the butane nozzle worked down to fit it was a breeze. I bought a ton of earth scent pads on sale I'll go through before I worry about those. Thanks for the info thumbup

I had no idea this was possible. I'll be going to the sto fer supplies soon. Thanks for sharing!

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I mix 10% permethrin in a spray bottle with water in a 15 parts (water) to 1 part (permethrin) solution and spray it on all my hunting clothes and let it dry. You will hear a mosquito here or there but they won't stay long. That stuff kills them on contact. I never get bit anymore. Keeps ticks off too. I don't even fool with a thermacell. And you only need to spray it on your clothes about once a month. It even survives several washings. Same stuff the military uses on jungle clothing.

Why worry about the pads. One pad last ~3 cartridges. I end up throwing 1/2 of them away.

I will give that a shot - you can't hardly walk on one piece of property we hunt without eaten alive by red bugs during the fall. We normally just spray down our pants legs and boots with Deep Woods Off, which seems to help.

Thanks for the tip thumbup
