I was on 20/59 this morning, looked over and saw the sign for his business on the side of a building. I remember watching his TV show when I was young, made a point to watch it. Liked that song he began his show with. Is he still open, or even alive. Anyone knows, or has any stories post it up.

Archie's still alive. Has battled some health issues the last few years, as he's aged, but has fought them with the same spit 'n vinegar as always. He's still up and at 'em.

That's good to know. I haven't heard anyone mention him in along time. Glad he is doing alright.

That's the song. I like going hunting just me and my hound and my gun. Good times right there

Didn't archies son have something to do with one of those gold mining shows a few years ago? Back before gold mining got popular.

That jigger pole fishing video brought back some good memories. An old man I used to work with taught me how to do it, years ago. He caught a 9 lbs bass one morning while we were jigger pole fishing. Thats a sho nuff fight on your hands when one like that gets on line.

Archie was my first outdoor hero. His old turkey hunting episode is one of my favorite programs of all time

Archie did a show on Jerry Simmons from Jasper one time, it was awesome. I only caught a few minutes of it, but I thought it was great!
Around the same time there was an article in AL Game & Fish on Jerry Simmons titled "243 deer by bow, one AL man makes it happen". I must have read that article a thousand times. Good memories

I have that video and still stick it in the old VCR from time to time. Mr Simmons was quite a woodsman back then.

I had the pleasure of doing a fishing video with Archie on Smith Lake back in 99. He's a real showman when the camera comes on. It was a good experience. I hope he's well.

I see Archie pretty regularly, I spent the 4th of July celebration with him and family as well as lots of his friends. I have known him all my life and he and my dad were best friends, with my dad passing away back in 1979.
When I was about 12 or so I worked in his taxidermy shop doing odds and ends, even worked up to the guy who scrapped paint off the freshly painted glass fish eyes, lol
I even cut his grass at his home for a few summers as a young un.

Several of us went out on a 2 day fishing trip out of Orange beach a few years back with Archie and he filmed it for his tv show. It was a great trip and we caught some huge red snappers. I've got that on DVD if I can figure out how to post it, I will. I was also on his show live when I was about 7 with me and my pet flying squirrel when it came on channel 42. I remember the trip up to the tv station to this day. Funny how we remember some things as a kid.

Archie is a good of a man that has ever lived in my opinion. He has done so many things to have helped others that has gone without any kind of recognition. God bless Archie Phillips!
