It sure has changed since we sold our place off of 30A and US98 ten years ago. Ain't no telling what it would be worth now.

My grandparents lived in Blue Mountain beach my entire life. They still have the house, but moved to Gantt Lake and said they will never go back. It got terrible when Huckabee built across the street and every woman driving a Range Rover has a 30A sticker in the back glass.

I won't go to the "destination" areas any more. WAY to many people for me. When we go beachin we go the quite side. Usually Port St. Joe area. Peaceful and quiet the way a beach vacation should be, but close enough to attractions if we decide to blow a bunch of cash. Also the fishing is very good on the bay and Appalachicola has some really great restaurants for fresh seafood.
What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

I remember when I was a kid and my daddy and I drove west on 30 A and they were cleaning the land to build the town of Seaside. I asked my daddy why would anybody want to live out here in the middle of no where.
Is the wagon wheel restaurant still standing in Sea Grove Beach or has it been replaced by tin roof houses? That was the best breakfast place back in the day.

We just stay at the end of Okaloosa island where the beach is less crowded.

The kitchen in the Wheelhouse caught fire 10 years ago. Even though it only damaged the Kitchen, it never reopened. About 3 years ago they tore down the Wheelhouse building and built a new restaurant called 723 Whiskey Bravo. I've never eaten at the new one but have had several hundred meals at the Wheelhouse.

The seafood is 2nd to none. I live 30 minutes away and we eat there every weekend.

I used to work that area and ate at the Wheelhouse all the time. Was the best food in the area for the money. Down home cooking is hard to find on the beach. Back then it didn't take a 1/2 hour to go a 1/2 on 30A either...
