Our next club tournament is at Howton's Camp, I have been there once before, but it's been a while back. I remember going through Ensley and then making a left near a convenience store but that's all. Need some help, I plan on going up there sometime in the next couple of weeks if I can find it.

I am sorry but you gonna get lost.I have been there a hundred times but telling some body how to get there would be rough.

That's EXACTLY why I haven't responded. We've been putting in at Howton's for at least 30yrs.....

Same here. Been going there for 20 years and still get lost. frown If you ever find the launch go up the little river and fish Presscott Creek on the left.

Try to follow sombody but here goes.
Get off of hwy 59 south at exit 115. Turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp. Follow that road straight for around 8 to 10 miles. Once you get out of town and havent been thru a redlight for about 3 miles or so you will go to the 4th redlight. There will be a mini-storage across the road and on the right. (remember this is about 10 miles off the interstate) Turn right at that light on to Taylors ferry road. As soon as you turn right there will be a round shaped church on your right (Union Hill Baptist). Follow it for about 8 miles you will see a sighn that says howtons fish camp to the right and that will take you right to the launch. It sounds easy and it sorta is but theres not many landmarks down that way.

thanks for the info Stripe.

Breeze, I talked to Basscat earlier today on the phone and he gave me basically the same directions as you did except I will be getting up to Taylors ferry road by coming up hwy 52 through Helena then through Bessemer. I plan on going up there next Monday to check things out.

Going thru Ensley would be a little harder to explain and I dont think its any faster.
The 4th redlight may be a little hard to figure, the first light im talking about will be at a store called Don-z, the second there will be a church and a school on the right Concord church, Concord school, the 3rd there will be a convenient store on the left. Its only about a half mile from there to the 4th light. When you make that right you will go about 6 miles and you will pass Heads Grocery which is another gas station keep straight and you will see a sighn that says West Jefferson correctional facility. When you see it start looking. Its about another mile or so but it comes up fast at the bottom of a hill, thats where you turn right at the sign that says howtons camp. PM me if you want and ill give you my # if you think you may have trouble.

The last two tournaments I fished out of Howto's have been won by dropping the trollng motor. Both times the guys never left sight of the launch. Tons of stuff to flip right there.

go straight across the river from the launch & fish the left bank from the point about 200 yards up & then switch sides & come down the other bank. using a candybug, bluegill or junebug finesse worm. works every time!

Go with the flow and you will end up down the drain!
