Looking to hunt for a few days to a week this year somewhere in the midwest. Never done this before and would be me and 3 guys max. May be just me and a buddy. What is the most cost-effective way for me to do this and still have an opportunity at a decent hunt. I'm not picky on a state (Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, etc.) and can hunt bow/muzzleloader/rifle and would prefer not fighting public land guys unless someone has a good recommendation. Not expecting to kill a B&C just looking for a chance at a decent buck. I know this is a longshot but does anyone have any advice, openings, contacts etc. Wouldn't mind leasing a farm for a few days to week at all. Thanks in advance for any who have advice they'd be willing to share.

Are you wanting an outfitted hunt or a DIY hunt?
If it's an outfitted hunt, what's your budget?

I prefer DIY because of my budget. I really can't afford over $1000 so am I even in the ballpark?

If you consider:
Tags
Fuel
Hotel
Meals
Etc.

You'll have a tough time keeping it below $1000 for a 7 day hunt. it would be close and depending on the state you choose it could be done. Tag/License cost vary from state to state, ($200-500) depending on state.
