Lionsden, I have seen several on Craigslist lately. Six month old to two years old. Watch out for older Mals, you don't know what some idiot has done to them. Pricy too, $500-$1000 for a good bred puppy.

I don't know any breeders locally, but I'll kepp an eye out for any I see.

Have you ever had one or know someone with one? They take an experienced dog handler/trainer to get the good out of them. If I can be of any help before or after you get one let me know.

Contact all the southeastern registered Schutzhund clubs(you can find list on united schutzhund clubs of america). You'll be able to find out from the trial secretary who has and knows of mali stock. That's a good place to start cause you can bet you'll find a good in country breeder or someone to import good stock health cleared mali. Central Alabama k9 should know also. They might also have upcoming litter if they still breed

We got a Malinois pup a couple months ago from a breeder in Berry, north of Tuscaloosa. So far she has been a great dog and has been great around my 3 kids.

Contact Carrie 205-331-7272. She has no problems letting you come see the pups and meet the parents before purchase. She works really hard with her dogs to acclimate them for different environments.

For more reference, go the AKC Malinois national club/association. They have a list of their referral breeders. This is the AKC parent club for the breed.

These people might know some other breeders more local to Alabama or can help you out in some way perhaps.

I don't know what you will be using the dog for but from what I know, they are a high energy dog that needs to be worked hard daily or they can get into trouble. Our police dept has one and he was stabbed about 3 or 4 months ago and was back on the job in about 2 weeks.

going to the AKC about Mal dogs is kind of like going to the KKK about how to join the NAACP.....Mals are a European breed that AKC has tried to mash into the "American" way of breeding dogs. And we know how that has worked for the German Shepherd Dog breed....

Here you go Fred.

Rika with my youngest when we got her in April.

Rika with my middle son in June, she loved watching the boats go by.

tfd1224 is absolutely right about them being high energy. Do not plan on having this breed to stay home alone from 8-5. My wife is a stay at home mom and she is a runner. We got a Mal because they are a good running dog and will help keep my wife safer while running. Currently we take our pup for at least two 2-4 mile fast walks or runs a day.

She's already protective. A couple weeks ago the wind blew something over on our back porch. My wife was sitting on the floor and the pup ran to her, sat in her lap with ears up, growling in the direction of the noise.
