I have a lot of great memories fishing at Robert's Catfish Farm in Hartselle. Are there pay-to-fish catfish ponds around still? Ideally around Tuscaloosa. Looking to take my 5-year old.

Close to bibb county lake on hwy 5. It's expensive though. I offered the lady $100 bucks just to let me and my son throw them back and she wouldn't take it.

We will burn that bridge when we get there

You ever catch anything out of the Bibb County public lake?

Don't know what the price is. But there is one on highway 11 in vance. Get off at exit 86 and hang a right onto covered bridge road. Go to the end at the stop sign turn left on highway 11 and it's 1/4 to 1/2 mile on left.

Awesome, thanks! That's a perfect location!

Drove by today. $3 per person to fish. $1.75 per pound (must keep all fish). Open 7 am until 6 pm. Not sure what days they are open (not today). All I know for now based on a sign, but will give it a try soon.

I've driven by this place 3 times and the lakes are always "closed." Not sure what's up with that.

Let us know if you do find out when they are open. I fished at that pay pond several times when I was getting back into fishing when I was in college. I started fishing there around 2010 and fished there into 2011. Caught a bunch of healthy catfish. It was an older couple than ran it, and when I stopped in one time the gentleman told me that his wife had been having health problems and they were trying to keep people from being out there as much. But I have heard through the grapevine that people do still fish there so I would love to know the answer.

Thanks for sharing your past experiences. I took my son there bright and early one Saturday morning trying to fish before the heat got bad. Pulled up and no activity at the house and the sign still saying the lakes were closed. I eventually pulled in a little deeper onto the property and saw a couple groups of people fishing. Not sure what the deal is. However, I can understand wanting to scale back if health issues are becoming more problematic.

Just seen your reply...I usually see people out there on Saturdays only. Seen quite a few people out there the past few weekends. Don't reckon I've seen many during the week.
