I have a random Tuesday off and looking at giving striper fishing a go. I Have a place on Canoe Creek (Neely Henry) and debating the following options:
1.) putting in at Canoe Creek and looking for deep holes and creeks and see if I get lucky or at least catch some large mouth.
2.) putting in below the dam and fishing the tail races (no idea what I'm doing but an experienced boater)
3.) Fishing the bank below the dam and leaving the boat in the garage.

If any of you guys know what your doing and off on Friday, I'll provide the boat and the gas in exchange for showing me the ropes, or any advice, suggestions appreciated.

I've had good luck below the dam. Catch some shad and drift em below the boat when they're running a turbine or two. Run up to dam, cut motor cast out, float down river, repeat.

I'm off tomorrow and friday, so let me know. I'll buy the gas and lunch. That would be awesome.

I'm off tomorrow too. Im sure they will be running water with all the rain we've had. I haven't fished Neely dam much but I've caught some really nice stripers there.

It rained buckets here this evening. Canoe Creek will probably be muddy. Really muddy.

I have a feeling they will be. Call 1-800-lakes11 that's 1-800-525-3711 before you go to see what the generation schedule is. Schedule is prone to change though, but it's right more often than wrong.

FYI, Alabama Power has an app for the lakes and hydro info. Not sure what it's called for an iPhone, but for Android it is Alabama Power Shorelines. You have to create an account, but I've never received any emails since creating an account last year. Beats calling and having to go through the process of punching numbers to get what you're looking for.
